Pub Openings/Reopenings/Pipeline 2024

As we finish off the 2023 season of extremely strong pub opening/reopening/rebranding activity, it's time for a new page. This will be edited constantly throughout 2024.

2023 list

2022 list

Pubs/bars due to open 'soon':

The Liffey Saint, Ushers Quay - replacing S1472 Pilsner Pub / Pifko, operated by the former operators of The Clock

Mollys, Francis Street - new Galway Bay Brewery pub replacing S1451 Doll Society / Anti Social

Super Social, Leopardstown - golf, darts etc 'sports' bar in what I assume is the former Club 92 space

Burton Tavern, Duke Street - fully fitted out for months but not open yet, and with zero social media presence.

Bus Bar, Skerries - undergoing rebuilding after a fire currently, now advertising for staff

Bambino, Queen Street - NY pizza place, replacement for 1013114 Token with (partially, at least) shared ownership.

S1593 Cuckoos Nest, Greenhills Road - has a website and social media, claimed Autumn 2024 reopening, work has commenced but more likely 2025

N0080 Quinns, Drumcondra - minor works ongoing for months, EIIS scheme open to fund reopening.

Lane7 bowling bar, Chatham Street - under construction

Lane7 bowling bar, Dundrum Town Centre

Bounce, Dame Street - a ping-pong themed bar, in the old Central Bank building

Flight Club, a darts-themed bar in the former S3727 Sams Bar, Dawson Street - commencement notice issued

NolaClan - Dions, Dame Street - rooftop bar in the old Central Bank building - this proposal seems to be actually going somewhere unlikely the previous ones for this space

Animal Collective - Bolands Mills

Animal Collective - (rumoured) North King Street, replacing N0197 Soup 2, a few doors down from their existing N0192 Bonobo premises

S1434 57 The Headline, South Circular Road/Clanbrassil Street - refit to a guesthouse with bar - commencement notice issued

Clontarf Baths - reopening after takeover by Nolaclan.

Press Up - Clerys bar in former Clerys development - possibly not happening due to Press Up's finances.

Opened:

The Morris, 15 Talbot Street - opened in January

1020980 The Glasshouse, Point Village - opened in January

1019507 Wellington Hotel / O'Riordan's Bar, Wellington Quay - opened March

Table 45, Hogan Place - replacement for S0145 Square Ball opened March

S4530 Turks Head, Parliament Street - reopened March after four year pandemic related closure

1020358 Chancery Hotel, Ship Street - opened March

1021081 Black Banks Bar & Grill, Raheny - replacing N1352 The Foxhound, opened March

Leinster Hotel replacing the former S0149 Howl At The Moon, opened March

Strand House, Fairview - replacement for N0135 Brú House, opened March

(Peggys on the Green, SSG North - rebrand by same operators of 1010656 Three Storey over the course of a few days in April - not really a new or reopened pub)

Caribou, Stephen Street - Kodiak/Bonobo group replacing S3221 PMacs - reusing the name of the same groups closed venue in Galway - opened May

The Waterbank, Grand Canal Street - rebrand over a few days in May of the former S0179 The Gasworks as a non-craft bar

Ruby Molly Hotel, Arran Street East - this is beside the Hacienda. Opened May

Teach Tábhairne, Wexford Street - replacing S0119 Against the Grain. Opened May

"Soho Dublin" nightclub, D'Olier Street / Hawkins Street - replacing S0007 Tramline. Opened May.

N1099 Biddy Mulligans, Sackville Place - former Sackville Lounge. Opened July.

N2205 Ambassador Theatre - reopened quietly-ish (I'm sure fans of the acts playing knew, cause the events were busy) in September after a multi-year closure.

S0175 The Cow, Ballsbridge - replacing Chophouse. Opened Sepetember

1015067 ONE Ballsbridge, Shelbourne Road - replacing former Park Cafe which has a pub licence. Opened September.

Ongar House, Ongar - replacing 1002519 The Hungry Tree which closed earlier this year. Opened October.

Madame Pho, Exchequer Street - replacing S4187 Ukiyo, presumably retaining its full licence. Opened October.

Leonards Corner, Clanbrassil Street - reopened as a part of the Lucky's group of S1437 Leonards Corner in November

Old Fashioned Sams, Montague Street - opened November. First entirely new "normal" pub since January

Porters, Camden Street - opened November. Another "normal" pub. This has been coming for quite a while, was never sure if it was going to be a licenced restaurant or a pub.

Longer term pipeline:

S0184 Leeson Lounge - closed in 2019 and used as a specialist off licence in the interim, a commencement notice went in in May 2024 for a refit of a new pub interior and kitchens. Ownership appears to be connected to the Brazen Head.

S1147 Drop Dead Twice - gutted by fire in 2022, a commencement notice went in in March 2024 for reconstruction. Has planning for a revised interior and traditional shopfront from 2023.

Handels Hotel - the bar here (formerly S3234 Oscars Cafe Bar) was been closed for years, but set to reopen as Messiah. Has seemed to be ready for some time, branding up outside etc, but may not yet be open. Hotel is trading.

Premier Inn - Clery Hotel to the rear of the Clerys redevelopment

Premier Inn - Ushers Quay

Longer term / possibly stalled

N0869 Donaghmede Inn - a very early Lockdown casualty. Was hiring for a March 2023 reopening, has yet to reopen, has been listed for sale

Rezz Hotel, Rathmines - due early 2024 but has apparently been block booked

Brewdog #2 - Charlemont Square - was expected Autumn 2022, but had some (now cleared) planning permission issues and could lag significantly - likely dead

Press Up - former S4389 Buck Whaleys / Stone Leaf - likely dead due to Press Up's finances

Press Up - former S0252 Lamb Doyles - this is now listed for sale as a development site, likely dead

Murray Group - renovation/reopening of former N0077 Out On The Liffey / Fibbers Rock Bar (this is not the main Fibbers)

S0214 Arbour House, Windy Arbour - relicenced recently

Old St Andrews Church Food Market - two operators (Wrights, Manifesto/Martin Barry) have pulled out of here, so this is looking less and less likely.
